Goodbye TMZ

Later this afternoon I am leaving to go up to Rhinelander for my yearly vacation with my family. The problem is you can barely get a cell phone signal up there, let alone check TMZ everyday. NO TMZ! How am I going to survive a whole week without knowing what Paris and Lindsay have crashed into? I know if I really needed to my Aunt Sandy would let me use her computer, but you feel like a tool asking to use her computer just so you can get your TMZ fix for the day. I guess I’ll just have to go back to getting my celebrity news like back in the days of yore and actually get a magazine. I bid you farewell TMZ!

Holiday weekend part deux

Weekends like this make my liver thankful I have to go back to work on Monday. Though our party was very low key compared to previous years, a good time was had by all. We even got a new saying out of the deal. I live about a block up the hill from The Decoy bar. We have been walking there for 5 years and no one has ever asked us if we needed a ride until Friday night. Bridgette and I were attempting to make our way up the hill Friday, when a nice man pulled over and asked us if we needed a ride. Bridgette told him our driveway was about 20 feet away so we’d be fine. He then asked us if we got all Tobacco Days’d up. This is now my favorite saying. My favorite things that happened this weekend were as follows.

Levi falling the the bathtub that we had on the front lawn for beer and ice.

Levi throwing the shoes over the power line in his underpants.

Not throwing up at all.

Getting asked if we got all Tobacco Days’d up!

Holiday weekend

Vocab word

Edgerton holiday: A festival in this small town that consists of a beer tent, fried foods as far as the eye can see, some type of livestock pooping on a grid for cash prizes.

You will see me refer to these holidays often, mainly because it is a good reason to get together with friends and have some beers. This is the first Edgerton holiday I will subject you to. Tobacco Days(for you PC pussies Edgerton Heritage Days) some would consider this the grand pomba of the festivals in my city, I do not. It is fun, but my roommate and I opt to have a Tobacco Days party instead. Most people opt to go to Racetrack Park where the above beer tent and livestock game take place. In typical Wisconsin fashion there is a craft show and the weekend ends with a parade. To me, Tobacco Days is really an excuse to drink mass quantities of beer and make Jello shots for my friends. I’m sure there will be an update next week with highlights from our party.

Ding dong the Witch is dead…FINALLY!

I have been reading the book Wicked since June 13.  I can’t remember the last time it took me this long to read a book. I had heard Wicked was a difficult read from several people. They couldn’t have been more right. I found it enjoyable enough, but a bit lengthy most of the time. I also didn’t realize it would be that political. My only goal after the first couple of weeks was to have it read by the time the new Harry Potter book came out. As of last week I thought even that might be a stretch. For a book that I was very excited to read I can’t lie and say I wasn’t a bit disappointed.  I never did figure out what the big deal was about this book.  Everyone I know that has seen the play or read the book has told me “you get a whole new outlook on the movie after reading/seeing this.”  No kidding!  That was the whole point of the book/play.  It is written from the Wicked Witch of the West’s point of view.  If you don’t feel like committing a ton of time to a book, don’t read Wicked.

You had me at hello Bret Michaels

I will admit, I am a T.V. junkie. Last night my addiction was feed by the new reality show Rock of Love starring Posion frontman Bret Michaels. This is VH1 at it’s finest! They put 25 stripper wannabes in a house for Bret Michaels to try and find the love of his life. Let the catfights begin and put the pharmacist on speed dial! I have a feeling STD testing was a part of getting picked to be a contestant. This show promises to blow Flavor of Love out of the water! I can hardly wait until next Sunday for a new episode.

Reunion at Kwik Trip

Today was a reunion a long time in the making. One of my best friends, Travis, was in town for about a half hour. This is huge. Travis and I have not seen each other in eight years. It hasn’t been for a lack of trying, things just never seem to work out. In the eight years since we have last seen each other he has gotten married and had a baby girl. I got to meet both today, at a gas station. Trav and his family were on their way back to Indiana today from Minnesota and were going to be driving through Wisconsin on the way home, if they had time they were going to stop. I got the call about 4 or so saying that they were going to stop at Kwik Trip if I wanted to come and see him and his family. Never did I think I would meet Trav’s wife for the first time at a gas station. I can’t tell you how wonderful it was to see him today. We have a really good friendship. Distance doesn’t seem to affect us. We talk maybe once a month or so to catch up. Sometimes it’s longer. It’s nice to have a friend in the world who always has your back no matter how long it has been since you’ve seen them. I will go to bed tonight a happy girl all over a half hour spent at a local gas station.

Virgin

My name is Jodi, and I am a virgin blogger. WOW, that feels good to get that off my chest. For me this isn’t all that different from the first time I had sex. I’m sitting here with sweaty palms and no saliva in my mouth wondering, “Am I going to be good at this?” Then you do the deed. It might be painful, but you get it done. After a few moans and groans, you think that wasn’t so bad it was actually kind of fun. That’s how I fell right now. If I still smoked, I’d go light up and ask “Was it as good for you as it was for me?”
