Celebrations

Tomorrow officially starts the move.  I was at the new place about 2 hours ago and it has that new house smell.  New carpeting and paint.  Two smells that we were never greeted with here.  I think the carpeting here is about 25+ years old.  Granted, that worked out well for us in the beginning, we were young and spilled a few drinks.  Now it’s just a reminder how much better the new place is.  I’m thinking this will be my last post for a while.  Between moving, walking to the Red Baron Showlounge, waiting for the Internet to be hooked up, and my parents anniversary party on the 12th(Wukstock), I’ll be kind of busy.  That is why I wanted to mention this.  Technically Behaving will be 1 year old on the 11th.  Thank you to the 4 people who read this site on a some what regular basis.  Don’t you feel better for knowing the extent of my drinking habits and TV reviews?  How did you exist for all of these years without knowledge of the Red Baron Showlounge?  I’m pretty sure that’s how I’m going to spend the TB anniversary.  My sisters will all be coming into town that weekend.  The 11the falls on a Thursday.  Super happy hour at the Red Baron Showlounge is on Thursday’s.  I will be living a hop, skip and a stumble from the Showlounge.  See how this all is coming together?

Looking back

I know I promised stories of what we have put up with over the years with our white trash neighbors, but now that they are moving out also I’ve changed my plans.  It’s not as much fun anymore knowing that they are leaving this place too.  This is the only time I’ll ever say this, but I kind of feel bad for the neighbor guy.  His wife left him and took the kids.  He spent way more time with them then she ever did.  Enough about that though.  I am going to miss this place a little.  This was my first apartment.  We’ve had some good times here.  When we sat outside on the steps, drank beer and pounded ants with a hammer the day we moved in here.  The time I went through the bathroom wall while shaving my legs.  The time Clayton trashed the house because we drew on him when he passed out.  All of the pairs of shoes we’ve thrown up on the power lines during our Tobacco Days parties.  Michelle eating too many Jello shots and puking all over the Decoy’s bathroom.  Jen talking to the neighbor lady like she loves the Packers and knows all about Lambeau Field.  Becky puking all over the steps.  Spike mooning everyone at one of Tobacco Days parties.  The boys going out with us in general.  Now they all have wifes/girlfriends and never hang out with us.  I’ll admit I’m ready to move out of here, but I’ve had a lot of fun on Ladd Lane.  It will be weird to drive home and not be driving here.

Flooding and Fathers Day

Today was a great day.  My dad and I drove around Janesville and gawked at the flooding of the Rock River.  Armed with my camera and a can of Red Bull we hit what roads were open.  I got some pretty good shots of Traxler Park which is completely under water.  Then we drove downtown walked around.  The great thing about looking at flooding with my dad is he isn’t afraid to go around the police barriers.  He says that it is just suggested that you stay out of the area.  While driving he also pointed out various places from his childhood.  I love days like today.

Forward 7 years

Today’s post was suppose to be about Randy Quade living in my driveway in a RV, but the Edgerton Reporter Police Report has changed that.

OMG! So I was sitting in my living room reading the Reporter for a second time tonight, (I always read it twice because it’s so small I feel I missed something!), when i get to the Police Report. I never read the Police Report, tonight I had a feeling I should though. There in black and white newsprint was my neighbor….arrested for domestic disturbance and resisting arrest on Saturday night. WTF! This happened while I was at a wedding reception! So not fair that I wasn’t even home to watch that douche bag get hauled off in a squad car. I knew he was a piece of trash crack head, but a wife beater? I guess I should have seen the writing on the wall. This would explain why he hasn’t been home in days. I’ll share the RV story tomorrow!

Update:  Turns out the neighbor lady was cheating on the neighbor dude and that’s what the whole fight was about.  They gave their notice to John yesterday, so they are moving out too.

Let’s start at the beginning

In honor of us moving I have decided to tell some stories of why we don’t get a long with our white trash neighbors.  This is a story that my Mom and Karl love to remind me of while I’m complaining about the trash next door.

Our neighbors moved in about this time of year seven years ago.  They looked ok, the kids were babies at the time.  We actually knew her from high school.  I think she graduated our freshmen year of school.  We definitely didn’t run in the same circle, but hey, who am I to judge.  Bridgette’s Grandma had died, so she had been in Illinois all week and we were going to go out when she came home.  Saturday night rolls around and me, my boyfriend at the time Spike, Keri and Bridgette are getting ready to go out.  The neighbor lady stops buy to have a beer.  She then asks if we would mind if she came out with us, we looked like we were going to have a lot of fun.  We are kind of hesitant, but it’s not like we are going to say no to her face.  She came out with us and proceeded to get absolutely WASTED!  I don’t mean “I love everybody” wasted.  I mean falling down, about to hurl wasted.  FUN!  We don’t even know this broad.  We finally get her into Keri’s car and leave for home.  Once we pulled up to our house she fell going up the walk and could not get up.  I finally had to have Spike help her up and act as a human crutch to get her to her door.  The next day she came over to tell us how hungover she was and while she was sitting on our couch we heard a scratching at the door.   It was her 10 month old trying to get in.  SHE LEFT HER 2 CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 2 ALONE!  I think back on that story now and should have known that we would not get along.  The sad thing is that is one of the tamest stories I have about them.  Stayed tuned.

Like George & Weezy

Oh we’re moving on up, to the, well I don’t really know what side of Edgerton it is, but in my mind it’s the Eastside! Last night Bridgette and I went and looked at my cousin’s apartment she has for rent and we LOVED IT! It is so cool! It has a huge screened in porch, a laundry room, and get this people, it’s maybe 300 yards from the Red Baron Showlounge! Perfect for Bridgette and myself. I can’t wait to move! I will be a hop, skip and a stumble from the Red Baron Showlounge! Awesome, I know! The best part is no white trash neighbors! There’s a dude that lives upstairs that is quite and is hardly ever home on weekends. This is going to be the longest 26 days in the history of the world.  This means I’ll have to get rid of my white trash neighbors category on this blog!  I’m smiling already!

Meaning of 2 letters to me

I sat down and started to write this post on Tuesday, but the words just didn’t seem right. Tuesday was a significant day in lives of most of us in the Rock County area for one big reason. GM announced on Tuesday that they would close the Janesville Assembly buy the end of the fourth quarter of 2010. When my roommate came home I was crying as I read the Gazette’s on line newspaper. She didn’t really get why it upset me. To someone who’s never had a family member work at the plant you wouldn’t understand. The thing I was thinking of while reading all of those comments was my own family. Someone in my family has worked at GM for the last 70 years. The plant has been open 89 years. As I was reading the time line of events at the Janesville Assembly that means all but the first 19 or so years my family members have been a part of. I thought of all of the ways GM has directly affected my life. Had it not been for the plant my parents would have never met. My mom is from the U.P. of Michigan. Her older sister Sandy and husband Glenn moved down here because Glenn was lucky enough to get hired at the plant. They encouraged my mom to follow later because of all of the jobs in Janesville. Had she never moved, she wouldn’t have met my dad and had me and my sister. All of my mom’s sisters moved here because of the plant. For all I know we’d still be stuck in Escanaba working at Elmers. I shiver at that thought. Don’t get me wrong there have been some downsides to my dad being a GM employee, he met a woman(who would later become my step mom) and cheated on my mom, but I’m convinced he would have done that anyway. Besides without him we wouldn’t have Karl they guyliner addict in our lives either.  He also worked at GM . I guess a long story short the two letters GM have meant an awful lot to my family. From my grandfather being recruited to work there because they wanted him on their minor league baseball league to my straight smile courtesy of the braces GM paid for. Over the years there have been over a dozen family members and too many friends to count that have been employed there. It feels like a member of the family has died. I think in the long run the city of Janesville is going to be alright, but it’s going to be a rough couple of years. If this had happened 15 or 20 years ago I don’t think I could be so optimistic. Chin up Janesville!

Beginning of the end

Over the weekend Bridgette and I did a very grown up thing. We both painted a room for the first time. This begins the process of getting the shit hole ready to move out of. This coming Sunday we go look at the promise land. Wendy and Shane’s apartment that they have totally gutted and remodeled from the bare walls. Everything will be new. There’s a dishwasher and first floor laundry. I’m pretty sure that’s where we will be moving to. The location is the best. It’s a hop, skip and a stumble from the Red Baron Showlounge. Chilimania will be in my back yard. I can’t wait for Sunday to come. I can’t wait to leave this place. I can’t wait to tell John that we are leaving this dump. I hope he’s not an asshole about it. We have been really good renters for him. I hope it hurts to loose us, but Shane and Wendy had us at first floor laundry. Most of all I can’t wait to get rid of my crack head trashy neighbors!
